Invergordon, Scotland Highlands Tour - July 15, 2016

The harbor at Invergordon:

The Dornoch Firth Viewpoint:

Stopping at Shin Falls to look for salmon (there weren't any):

Mardi made some new friends at the Falls:

Cutting peat for heating near Farlary:

Visiting Dunrobin Castle:

Nice back yard:

The falconry show was beyond the circular garden on the left and right in front of the trees trimmed as globes:

Getting ready for the falconry show. Jill goes to inspect the birds:

This was a pretty exciting demonstration of hawks, owls, and falcons flying right over our heads. This is a falcon:

And here's the big owl, wish some familiar looking spectators:

After the bird show:

We then took a tour of the Clynelish Distillery in Brora:

One of their barrel rooms. The 1993 Clynelish on the left of course commemorates Lindsay's birth year, while the 1977 Bora on the right (which isn't made any more) is worth a king's ransom:

We had a scotch tasting at the end of the tour. It wasn't bad... (I'm pretty sure we enjoyed our Guinness tasting in Dublin better!)

Visiting the Dornoch Cathedral in...Dornoch:

This Tailor's Measure was in the cathedral's graveyard. There are two posts measuring exactly one yard apart. People used to take the 9 yards of fabric needed to make a kilt to this stone to verify they got "the full 9 yards":

The end of our tour was a stop at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Interesting thing was we were able to drive right through one of the fairways:

View from the golf course. Our guide gave us a tasting of scotch from his home town of Wick. It was better than the Clynelish:
